Weatherby has been the first name in magnum rifles for over 75 years. The Weatherby Mark V Backcountry 2.0 Carbon, chambered in .257 Weatherby Magnum, is ideally suited for long range varmint shooting and smaller North American game such as deer and antelope. Weighing only 6.6 lbs, the Mark V Backcountry 2.0 Carbon is built on a Peak 44 aerospace-grade carbon fiber stock with a 3DHEX recoil pad. The 3DHEX is a 3D printed recoil pad that has an internal, high strength, energy diffusing lattice structure to spread out directional forces to reduce muzzle lift during recoil. The Mark V Backcountry 2.0 Carbon action, bolt, and metal surfaces are protected by a Cerakote finish to increase resistance to wear, corrosion, and chemicals while improving impact strength and hardness. To reduce weight and increase smoothness, the Backcountry 2.0 Carbon large radius bolt has been deeply fluted. For rapid chambering the bolt has a 54 degree throw. The threaded bolt handle has a skeletonized removable aluminum knob. For sub-MOA accuracy a 26″ lightweight, accurate, and fast-cooling match stainless steel barrel is wrapped in tensioned carbon fiber. This lets the barrel cool rapidly while adding rigidity and reducing weight. Perceived recoil is further reduced by the Accubrake ST muzzle brake. 30 symmetrically-spaced ports redirect muzzle gases to help tame the recoil of magnum loads. By combining light weight carbon fiber, an exceptional barrel system, an attractive Patriot Brown Cerakote finish, and a dark green and brown sponge camo pattern, the Weatherby Mark V Backcountry 2.0 Carbon sets a new standard in magnum hunting rifles.
